Leaping Hare

Modern paganism is obsessed with Hares - from what I have researched it comes entirely from the Scottish lady tried for Witchcraft sometime in the 1600s.

I shall go into a Hare
With sorrow and sych and mickle care
and I shall go in the Devil's Name
Aye till I come home again.

Unlike most confessions she seems to have decided to go for it. Sych means such and Mickle is 'great' The hare of course was a traditional countryside animal that shapeshifters were said to favour (along with foxes and badgers) This has led to the Hare being favoured amongst many pagans as a sacred animal, it's habit of hiding in plain sight and it's swift speed endear it to many a witch.

Anyway artists like Wendy Andrew have embodied the spirit of Hare as veiwed by pagans in fantastic artwork, this is inspired by her work (the people I was making this for are great fans) so here we have a hare leaping over the snowy landscape at Solstice Dawn. Make of that what you will lol
