A girl and a Stone
It's been I think over a year since I was able to do anything with Tye, last year was, lets say rough. but things are slowly getting back on an even keel (or as even as they get round here) Most of my sets and props are scattered so I'm having to rebuild or use what I can find.. in the meantime, even Tye's getting in on the rock painting craze that's sweeping the world!
Greyhound painted stone - daylight shot
Still loving this guy. Painted on natural stone, so all his colour apart from a tiny bit of brindling (you can see, it's the feathered lines on quarters and neck) and the obvious white and black bits to create him are all the natural stone colour. I couldn't do this again if I tried, just lucky on the day. Bed is needlefelted felt and a piece of old cloth for his blanket.
Greyhound painted stone
Still stone painting over here, this one worked really well. Apart from the obvious bits I've put in to make it a dog, all the colour and ninety nine percent of the markings are natural to the stone (some form of granite that has been under heat and pressure according to geologist partner, I'd love to know what it's called) He really really worked. Just as well as he's a birthday present for Mum! Partner made the little bed to display him (and stop him scratching the furniture lol) I took the shot trying to get the 'greyhound tucked quietly in bed in a corner' shot.
Horse Mandala stone
Got to say I'm pretty pleased with this one. I got a book from The Range and finally am starting to get my eye in with the mandala part (well nearly, still a way to go as you can see) but this guy, this one was hard to hide. He's hidden just off a bridleway in the village, and apparently there are people out looking for him now! (for those who haven't come across this, there's a current craze of decorating and hiding stones, just to put a smile on the faces of those who find them - check out Love on the Rocks UK facebook group for more info, but there are lots of groups all over the world doing the same thing) Hope he finds a good home, and soon.
Hare and Dragon stones
Yet more painted stones - think it's this year's project and I'm loving it! This time I went for a Lughnasadh theme with the hare and seeing if I could create a lovely dragon stone that I've seen around (the artist apparently doesn't mind being an inspiration, said the guys on a facebook painted rock group) At the beginning I loved the hare but I had to put it down for three weeks straight, and as all artists know that might be kill or cure, this time it was more 'meh' - it has however been both dropped and found and is a prized find for the finder who is keeping it. Some stones get rehidden.

The dragon is hidden in full view in bletchley Milton Keynes and so far, as far as I know anyway, hasn't been found. Hope he finds a good home!

Happy Christmas and belated Solstice Greetings

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 24, 2013, 4:07 PM

It's been a long old year and the last three months have been horrendous due to packing up our old house for sale. No art, no time - no weekends for three months! Packing is done, selling is not - sigh.

Taking the last opportunity here to use the journal feature since my sub runs out tomorrow - I'll get another when I've been paid in January lol.

I hope everyone I know, my friends, watchers, those who wondered in here from a picture or a random link have a very warm, happy, peaceful Christmas or whatever festival you celebrate.

To my pagan friends I hope the returning light brings illumination, joy, love and peace into your lives. We spent our solstice quietly watching the lightening sunrise sky behind a curtain of rain, but our persistence was rewarded by a patch of beautiful bright sunlight amongst the gloom. We then sat and had a communal breakfast as a group.

Lets hope 2014 brings us all health, wealth, strength, joy and the fulfilment of love that is Perfect Happiness.

Blessed Be!
